How to support removal of wall?

Hello all,

I have a double carport, which the previous owner enclosed and separated into two areas with a wooden panel wall as in the picture.

I want to remove the wall to make it more open. I don’t believe it is a support wall, but want to make sure by supporting in two places with wooden pillars.

The questions. What type and thickness of wood should I use for pillars and how do I fix the pillars to a slightly slopping floor and fix them

to the beams themselves?

 Thanks in advance

Re: Supporting Removal of Wall

Hello @Jeffersm963

In this particular situation, I suggest engaging the services of a registered builder. They will know what kind of post to support the beams and how to anchor them to the floor. Because this is a major structural change in the configuration of the carport it's best to do it safely.

Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when working on your project.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
