How to remove drawer from Craftright tool chest?

How do I remove drawers in a Craftright 6 drawer tool chest. Model number CR595TB.

I have nuts, bolts and screws stored in each drawer but cannot see the rear of each drawer.  I would like to be able to remove each drawer and see/access the rear 10% of the drawers.  The drawer body is 225 mm long but the accessable area is only 150 mm.

I am familiar with 'normal' sliding drawers and understand a tab must be lifted to release the mechanism.  There is no such latch or tab on these sliders.

If I cannot release the drawers are there any other cabinets similar to the Craftright that has removable drawers?IMG20250327113520.jpgIMG20250327112313.jpgIMG20250327112244.jpg

Thank you.

Re: How to remove drawer from Craftright tool chest?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Harky. It's splendid to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about removing a drawer.

You might like to have a look at this previous discussion: How to remove drawer from Craftright tool trolley?

My colleague @EricL went out to a store to check this out and reported that "We've opened up a new toolbox and examined it for at least one hour, I'm sorry to report the drawers can't be split apart. It seems like the runners were first installed inside the cabinet and then the runners were pulled out and the shelf riveted to it. We searched both inside and outside for any release mechanism, but there was none to be found. I believe it is a safety feature of the cabinet that should you fill it with heavy tools the drawer will not accidentally fall out due to a failed plastic clip. There is a permanent steel stopper located at the front of the drawer runner."

Unfortunately, it does not look like these drawers can be removed. You might like to check out our range of storage trays to keep in the drawers. That way you could utilise the full depth and pull out the tray with your fixings in it.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: How to remove drawer from Craftright tool chest?

MitchellMc,

thank you for going to the trouble to actually look at the item in the store.  I suspected the drawers cannot be removed.  Unfortunately, other tool storage boxes where drawers can be removed are very expensive. Your suggestion to place my items in storage trays in the drawers is a good idea.

Thanks again and thank you for a quick response.

Have a good day.

Stephen
