how to put a drill bit into my ryobi RSDS 18x
Hello @mejane
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your Ryobi RSDS 18X.
In order to use ordinary drill bits with your Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Brushless SDS Rotary Hammer RSDS18X, I suggest using the Craftright 13mm Drill Chuck with SDS Plus Adapter and Chuck Key. The adaptor can be used to convert the SDS drill to take normal drill bits when functioning in non-impact mode. Please note the adapter is not designed to withstand the high impact action of an SDS drill. Please do not use masonry bits with the adapter. Forcing it to operate in such a way can result in the chuck falling apart and/or the tip of the masonry bit snapping off.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @mejane
Just to reaffirm @EricL comments re only using the SDS chuck adaptor for non-hammer mode drilling. Also not that though the drill is very powerful and efficient for masonry drilling, it doesn't have the same capacity for drilling larger diameter accessories like hole saws, and large spade bits.

Hi @mejane,
I see Eric has provided some helpful advice on how to use a standard drill bit in the SDS chuck on your drill. I thought I would just point out that an SDS drill is designed for SDS-style drill bits. To insert those, you pull back on the black head where you are inserting the bits. Insert the bit and then let go of the head to lock in the bit.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
