How can I check that a new roller door motor will work with the gate remote?

We recently installed a new remote controlled front gate (BFT Deimos BT A 400) which, we were told, is not compatible with our 12 year-old garage motor (Automatic Remote Access RDO-3B). We'd like to replace the motor so that both gate and garage use the same remote. Hoping you can you tell us which Bunnings replacement motors are compatible, please.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your gate remote.

I had a quick look at the Liftaway and Chamberlain universal remotes and the BFT Deimos BT A 400 is not on the compatibility list of these remotes. I've done a search for possible compatible remotes that will work on both units, but I could not find any. My only suggestion is to install an Orion Grid Connect Smart Garage Door Controller with Sensor that will allow you to control both units with your phone. But I strongly suggest speaking to your electrician about compatibility with the BFT Deimos just to be sure.

There are standalone receivers out there for your brand gate opener that allow you to wire into the extra low voltage terminals of your existing garage motor, (OSC,COM,GND,VCC) and then they should work with the gate remote as long as you get the correct model match.

I don't know if Bunnings would supply something like this otherwise Google is your friend here and send and email or make a call for correct model.

They are called a receiver and if you search.

Which controlled by phone or voice through Google or Alexa but if your gate is out of Wifi range it won't work.
