Biggest challenge before was to not to seek development and building approval for the purpose of converting a 6m x 12m Garage into habitable living space Located in a rural setting in the township of Myponga, the property was just a short walk from the Samoyed Brewery, post office and markets..As an experienced builder, I took a chance and carried out the construction without approval, to produce an outstanding result…HOW?? . it took a combined effort from myself, a building designer and Private Certifier to have the building approved by the council as being fit for living… …
Wow!
Hello @greggy56
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your outstanding bachelor pad built inside a garage.
Wow! I totally agree with @Noyade on this sentiment, what an amazing build. Would it be possible for you to give us a quick description of the sequence of how the pad was built? It seems that there is so much space, what is the overall size of the pad itself? Would you happen to have a picture of the floor plan? I'm sure our members will be keen to see how the rooms are laid out.
What were the biggest challenges you ran into while building this project?
Any other extra information you can share with our members while building the bachelor's pad would be very much appreciated.
Again, thank you for sharing your fantastic bachelor pad project.
Eric
What a fantastic project @greggy56. I'm so looking forward to reading more about the build. I'm sure it will inspire many other Bunnings Workshop community members. It reminds me a little of our own backyard studio build.

Hi @greggy56,
Thanks again for sharing your project with us. It has proved popular with the community who are no doubt really inspired by the transformation.
Can I please ask why you didn't seek approval before commencing? I take it that caused complications in getting the building approved as being habitable? It would be great if you could provide a little more detail about the lessons learned so others could learn from your experience.
Many thanks for sharing.
