An easy vertical garden project featuring reo mesh and a copper garden border for a rustic look.
The project
I created a vertical garden so our herbs can grow in hanging pots. The starting point was a chalkboard that the kids don't use anymore and the weather had damaged.
I used 100 x 100mm x 2.4m H4 treated Pine posts and anchored with 20mm Dynabolts into the wall. I then painted with Taubmans exterior black paint.
I used Everhang 100 x 6.2mm Zinc Plt Square Hook to keep the Whites 1800 x 1050 x 5mm Light Duty Reo Mesh off the wall. All sourced from Bunnings and an easy weekend project.
We added another pot and, while it doesn't sit right with my symmetrical brain, we're trying to get the transplanted chilli plant to take and hope it grows up the frame. The reo has started to rust which looks good alongside the rusted copper garden border.
Next to the vertical garden is a viburnum hedge. Looks beautiful and grows fast but needs a lot of water. By taking cuttings from this hedge, I was able to grow a 10m hedge down the other side of my property.
