Upcycled tallboy

Sanding and painting this tallboy created a beautiful and modern finish.

The project

For the first time, I used Rust-Oleum Milk Paint Finish and I am so happy with how the colour turned out. I applied three coats since the original stain colour was a very strong red and I felt like it needed three coats for total coverage.

For the top I used Cabot's Water Based Tint Base Interior Stain in Sutherland Teak. To protect the timber, I applied Bondall Monocel Satin Waterbased Clear Varnish all over.

lifestylebymari also upcycled this coffee table, sanding it back to the original colour and adding black leather handles.

By lightly distressing fresh paint and adding vintage handles, prettyliving completely changed the look of this buffet.

With fresh paint and new handles, craftyhopper was able to give this buffet a stylish new look.

Looks amazing,  want to do something similar, with a piece I just purchased, was wondering, did you sand the entire tallboy then paint, or was it just the top you sanded to get the natural look?

Let me tag @lifestylebymari to make them aware of your questions. From a restoration point of view, it's best to sand the surface and remove the paint so that you have a nice timber surface to paint on.
