An upcycled camper sink and rustic decoration helped turn this wooden Mimosa gazebo into a unique outdoor living space.
We wanted to make a nicer outdoor space than the one we had – it was a rusty metal-framed gazebo with a shadecloth roof and a dirt floor.
We installed a Mimosa wooden gazebo on a concrete slab, using ChemSet anchors to secure it to the slab and adding cyclone straps to reinforce the roof. We painted the timber with a sealant to hopefully increase its longevity.
I try not to waste anything, so we upcycled the metal frame that was used around the packaging for the gazebo and screwed it to the wooden gazebo beam above the kitchen to hang hooks for a light and cooking utensils.
With more space under the roof we purchased a slide-out sink from a camper trailer and transformed it into a kitchen complete with flick mixer, two drawers and a food-prep area. At 1.7m long it is very handy.
The addition of a metal table and chairs, Mojo cushions and a wicker cooler table created the terrace bar.
Then came the palm deck with the awesome space-saving Mimosa Lava foldable bar table and adjustable-height chairs.
To finish off the setting we added a combination of solar and low-voltage fairy lights, pendant lights and a string of globe lights tied with fishing line to a vintage ladder.
The gazebo was in need of guttering, so we trimmed 60mm off the fascia and added Stratco guttering in monsoon grey and installed downpipes on the front.
The final touch was a roller blind to add privacy and make the area feel and look a room.
We spend so much time here now rather than indoors.

Amzing stunning results @kellig, I love the lighting and your choice of monsoon grey as a choice of contrasting colour, rustic ladder. An awesome outdoor area, well done!
