This affordable Christmas project uses few materials to create a stylish timber tree.
The project
My partner has an eye for decor and found a timber Christmas tree online for $600. It didn't look like much more than a few plywood lengths and some holes, so we made it ourselves.
I bought $50 worth of 18mm plywood. The longest length (branch) is 90cm long, and the shortest is 5cm.
There are three base plates that are 25cm square. We used a single 10mm metal rod in the middle with a nut and washer on the bottom base plate and another nut and washer on the top base so they lock together tightly. We put felt feet on the bottom to stop the timber from scratching the floorboards in our living area.
The top triangle has another nut glued to it and a washer to clamp it all down tightly. The tree has survived my two 9-month-old boxer puppies and cats.
