Large recycled pallet timber outdoor table

A long outdoor table built out of recycled pallet timber and mounted on four castor wheels so it is easy to move.

The project

It started off as just a long 3.7m pallet. No ends. No sides. And it it was horribly warped. It was part of a display from a secondhand furniture shop that was closing down - and it was supported by two galvanised drums. They were using it as a display counter and offering it for sale as a bar table. Much to my wife's disgust, I brought it home.

Steps

Step 1

The first step was to unbuckle the pallet with strategic clamping and screw a face around it with 25 x 150mm wood. Then I routed curved edges, sanded and lacquered.

Step 2

I then constructed the frame ends. Initially I was thinking of using steel, but went with wood. Then I added the wheels.

At this stage, the wood was only partially constructed as I wasn't sure about the height. That was a good thing, as it was initially too high. So I unscrewed the frames and shortened the vertical members.

Step 3

The new height was perfect. I strengthened the end frames and then added wood sheeting to create two end platforms - what for, I don't know. Then I painted it.

I'm slowly acquiring more chairs, as the budget allows. I'm very impressed with Bunning's Lifetime Folding Chairs. They're sturdy, comfortable, weather resistant and inexpensive. I highly recommend them.

Afternoon @Noyade

 Thats a brilliant recyled table! And you had me laughing at "Much to my wife's disgust, I brought it home." hahahah Some of the best finds are like this!

Now it needs a party to bring it into service, but the biggest question I have is what or how are you going to reuse those two steel drums!

"what or how are you going to reuse those two steel drums!"

I don't know @Dave-1 🤔

They originally told me they were stainless steel - clearly they're not, just galvanised. But winters fast-a-coming - maybe a fire bucket project?

Cheers!

Hi @Noyade

That sounds like a great idea! Just in time for winter.
