This striking kitchen makeover uses contrasting timber and gloss cabinet finishes to create a light and airy modern look.
After 18 years of this tired, yellowing water-marked kitchen, it was time for something fresh!
I had been wondering what to do for quite some time. One day realised I could do it myself, so off to Bunnings I went, and bought myself a very inexpensive Ozito bench saw. It is the best thing I have ever bought!
I had some Oak shelving that I previously bought from Bunnings that matched the decor in my home, so I decided this would be great for my new kitchen cupboards.
I jumped online and ordered everything I needed from Bunnings Click & Collect, picked it all up, and I was ready to go!
Having never used a bench saw or installed a kitchen before, it was a little daunting, but I had so much fun once I got started. It was so easy.
I had to cut each door to size and then drill the new holes for the door hinges. I bought iron-on timber laminate for the raw edges to match the timber grain, and it looked amazing.
For my pantry doors and fridge side panels I found some closet doors that matched perfectly, cut them to size and fitted them.
I decided to mix it up a bit and go for white gloss cabinet doors for the top of my kitchen. I bought Kaboodle doors, which were easy to fit, and I just love the look.
I added some rose-gold handles and accessories, some mother-of-pearl backsplash tiles, and it was finished.
I absolutely love it – and I’m pretty pleased with myself too.
I’ve had so many great comments about how good it looks, and it was super-easy and super-cheap, all thanks to Bunnings!

This looks stunning @emmalee107 , everything came together so well and you have a great eye for design in what is certainly one of the more interesting layouts for a kitchen I've seen. Love the handle colours as well, well done!
