Buffet hutch upcycled with paint

Having an Impact

A good sanding and fresh coats of paint and stain gave a tired buffet hutch a new lease on life.

The project

This Facebook Marketplace find was a challenge! Although the hutch was in great, sturdy condition, it was painted in some type of milky white coating – almost like a plastic coating. It took ages to sand and kept blocking the sander paper. The Ozito random orbital blasted through like a champ, though!

The staining took really well and the spray gloss went on perfectly – until I put my hand on it to reattach the doors and left a lovely hand print! I thought it was dry but apparently I'm still learning what "dry" means!

I re-listed this on Marketplace and it sold within 13 minutes. The joy in knowing that someone would love an old piece of furniture made new again is everything!
