new shower head

IMG_2893.jpeg

Hello,

I really want to get a shower head like this?

https://www.bunnings.com.au/quoss-chrome-aroma-sense-q-shower-hose-and-bracket-wels-3-star-8l-min_p0...

my partner seems to think that because we’ve got lower water pressure (two story), that this won’t work. I think he’s just saying that…

Image included of what we currently have (but it’s much older and decaying).

Re: new shower head

Hi @Newbie-,

Your husband does have some valid concerns.

If you already have low water pressure, this shower head may not perform as expected. It includes a pre-filter to trap impurities, which, while improving water quality, can restrict flow further. Additionally, the shower head relies on very fine jet holes to create a high-pressure spray effect. Under normal household pressure, this design produces a strong jet, but with limited water pressure in a two-story home, the flow may be reduced significantly. While the Aroma Sense Q is engineered to enhance the sensation of water pressure, it cannot actively increase the baseline pressure. If your current water pressure is already low, you might find the performance unsatisfactory.

However, without actually trying it, it's a bit hard to tell whether it will work well or not.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: new shower head

Soooo he’s right?? 😆

Is there something else I could use to purify the water?
Don’t want to replace the whole system, just the shower.

Re: new shower head

Hi @Newbie-,

If you don't have the required baseline water pressure, then he is likely correct. Unfortunately, any kind of filtration system will restrict the flow of water to some extent.

You can always check the flow rate with your current showerhead to see if it is a viable option. Use this guide from Holman Industries to work out your current flow rate - Flow Rate Test with Bucket.

If you are well below the 8L/min required by the Quoss Aroma Sense Q then unfortunately it's likely not a viable option and you would have to speak to a plumber about ways to increase the flow rate in your home.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
