HI, I'm about to paint a bathroom with little ventilation. I was hoping for a paint recommendation?
Thanks.
Hi @Slabs76,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. We trust you'll get loads of helpful advice and project inspiration from our wonderful members.
Given the limited ventilation, can you please let us know if you have had mould issues in the past? I would be inclined to follow the guide How to paint a mouldy ceiling to help ensure a long-lasting finish, but let me see what our resident Bunnings D.I.Y. experts can recommend for you.
Thanks,
Jason
Hi Jason
Unable to comment on the mould as I have just purchased the property.
If your experts could suggest paint to prevent mould (if possible) or another good option that would help.
Cheers
Hello @Slabs76
Thanks for sharing your question about what paint to use for your bathroom. I believe Jason provided an excellent link in regards to what paint and technique to use for bathrooms that are prone to mould. That would be the use of the Dulux Wash&Wear semi-gloss paint, Protite Mould Defender and Flood Paint Prewash. For an extra layer of protection, I also suggest using Crommelin 1L Flat Aquablock Waterproof Primer Undercoat - 1L.
But all of this will be overwhelmed if there is too much moisture in the bathroom. I propose either adding an exhaust fan on your ceiling such as the IXL Tastic Mirage 3 In 1 Bathroom Heater Exhaust Fan And Motion Sensor LED or the Manrose Aria 250 Exhaust Fan LED Round Fascia. There is also the Blauberg 150mm White WIND Window Exhaust Fan if your window is your only mounting point.
The initial outlay may be a little bit more than what you were planning on spending, but the benefits to you and those with you is a clean mould free bathroom.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
