Review grout - Need to be replaced or topped up?

Hi,

I've tried different methods to remove what appears to be mold between the thin grouted areas.

In the process, some of the grout seems to have come off as well.

I’m wondering if it would be better to replace the grout entirely or just top it up with new grout.

Re: Review grout - Need to be replaced or topped up?

Hi @vas90,

It’s a bit hard to tell from the images, but it looks like the grout has deteriorated, with some areas wearing away or falling out. This isn’t typical unless the grout wasn’t particularly sound to begin with. Instead of just topping it up, I’d recommend removing the damaged grout entirely using a grout saw. This ensures the new grout can properly bond and penetrate deeply into the gaps, giving you a longer-lasting and more durable finish.

Here are some helpful guides: How to remove tile grout and How to grout tiles.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
