How to unscrew tap handles?

01BADAEA-2DF9-4EC8-BC69-9F12BA0BBD01.jpeg

help please- my shower tap keeps spinning without any water coming out. The type spindle tap it is means there is nowhere for me to unscrew it! Is there some kind of mechanism that will unscrew the handle off please? I took a photo from the back and there looks to be a type of hole behind the handle. Would that be something? Thank you!

Re: help- tap wont unscrew!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @chrystal01. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about removing a tap handle.

If you take a look at this discussion on How to remove leaking laundry tap handle, you'll find a detailed description of how to remove the handle. If you look at the underside of the tap handle where the spindle connects to it, you'll see the two slots in a little nut. It requires a special spanner to remove, and the spanner included in this Kinetic Spout And Handle Repair Kit will likely fit it. You need to undo this nut to remove the tap handle. Make sure you turn your mains water off before you remove the tap spindle.

Please let me know if you have further questions.
