How to shave some centimetres off this box to install a washing machine?
I am trying to get a new washing machine. Unfortunately, no washing machine is fitting as there is a box in the way on the left side of the washing machine. We're not sure what is inside the box as the drain pipe goes in it and the electrical outlet for our current machine is at the side of the box. Any ideas as to whether it will be safe to open the box up? Thank you for all your help!

Re: How to shave some centimetres off this box to install a washing machine?
Hello @TLi
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your laundry area.
If you are referring to the box with the pipe coming out of it, I suspect that it is a utilities box and contains other plumbing fittings. If you are living in an apartment, I suggest speaking to the building manager first and asking them if this box can be modified. But if you are living in a single detached home, I recommend engaging the services of a plumber to open the box for you.
However, if you are referring to the cabinet beside the washing machine, I suggest engaging the services of an electrician if you wish to move the power point to another location. Once the power point is safely out of the way you can then modify the cabinet so that you'll get more space for your new washing machine.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
