Hi all, wanting to replace old laundry corner tub/cabinet.
Would it be possible to raise the pipes?
I’m hoping to have replace with a sink and then kitty litter tray underneath.
Hi @jlee,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
Unfortunately, any time alterations need to be made to pipes that connect with a council wastewater system, you will require the assistance of a licenced plumber.
I can't see a reason that the pipes can't be moved up slightly, but you would need to speak with a plumber to confirm this.
While speaking with your plumber, you might like to discuss your options in terms of a vanity, basin or laundry unit.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Jacob,
I'm now leaning towards the Mondella 600mm Rococo Freestone Vanity Cabinet, wooden vanity top and a counter top sink as this fits the depth I need.
World this be workable with the plumbing? Also would a plumber be able to connect the washing machine drainage to this? The washing machine currently sits next to the laundry trough, but has a hose in the sink.
Hello @jlee
Just a friendly reminder that the Building Code of Australia (BCA) requires that laundry facilities include a washtub. This is to provide a way to dispose of wastewater. A kitchen sink or washbasin must not be counted as a laundry washtub. If you are after something a bit more modern, I suggest changing the laundry trough into a Kaboodle 600mm White Base Cabinet, I recommend looking at the Specrite 1800 x 600 x 18mm Timber Panel Beech FJ Laminated as a possible benchtop and using the Everhard Nugleam 35L Utility Laundry Sink. It is a much more modern laundry sink with a different look from the traditional laundry tubs.
In regards to the plumbing, the plumber will be able to attach the wastewater pipe under your laundry tub by using a Caroma 50mm P Trap with a washing machine/dishwasher outlet.

Hi Eric,
My original plan was the Kaboddle.
But they don’t make them 450mm depth. I also couldn’t find a sink that is small enough either if I got a custom cabinet.
I can’t make it 600mm depth as it will block the door.
H @jlee
After an extended search I found the Abey 30L Stainless Steel Laundry Tub and the Everhard 35L Benchline Slim Drop In Laundry Bowl. These are the smallest drop-in laundry tubs I could find. The drawback is that you'll need to custom make your own cabinet and benchtop to make it work. The other option is to modify an existing 600 base cabinet so that it becomes shorter in depth. If you've done some cabinet making before, you should be able to modify the cabinet size.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
