How to repair and resurface wall behind vanity?

I have removed the old vanity from the bathroom of my double brick flat. The photos shows the result. The replacement vanity will mostly cover the same area, however I want the wall repaired to a decent standard. Also, some tiles along the base of the wall were removed to install the vanity 40 plus years ago will need to be replaced.

Good Afternoon @Edgar

The area looks like it could be cleaned of loose concrete and then re-rendered. I would also prob waterproof the new render once it has dried. Then I would install the replacement tiles over it. Im not sure how well the non waterproofed area and the new waterproof area will work but something in me demands I waterproof to the best of my ability any repair or change

Re: How to repair and resurface wall behind vanity?

Hello @Edgar

Thanks for sharing your question about resurfacing the wall behind your vanity. It's great that you've received excellent advice from @Dave-1. I totally agree with his recommendation to re-render the wall so that it is nice and flat.

Please refer to your local council's rules and regulations regarding waterproofing your bathroom. Please note that you'll need to engage the services of a professional water proofing agent as they have been trained and certified to apply the waterproofing.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Re: How to repair and resurface wall behind vanity?

Hello @Edgar

I suggest having a look at the Dunlop 20kg Multipurpose Acrylic Render. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor projects over a range of surfaces including brickwork, AAC blocks and concrete. I propose using Dunlop 1L Multipurpose Water Based Primer before you render.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to repair and resurface wall behind vanity?

Evening @Edgar

I havnt done any rendering myself "Yet" Tho have two places that I need to do. I do know @EricL has suggested render patch kits before.

render repair shows a few of them. I would wait for Erics suggestion as it will be more accurate especially being used in a bathroom situation.
