How to renovate the bathroom?

Hi everyone,

I want to renovate my 19xx bathroom with the new layout based on the picture below.

In short, I want to divide my original bathroom into 2 separate rooms. One is just the shower and sink and one with shower sink and toilet. I would like to ask if I am allowed to do that, do I need a permit to do that in Tasmania.

Also are there any tools or cost estimates so I can figure out how I can fit things into my redesigned bathroom and estimate the cost to renovate it?

Thank a lot

Re: How to renovate the bathroom?

Hello @Jnguyen

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bathroom renovation.

My apologies for the late reply. I suggest having a quick look at this guide - How to plan a bathroom renovation by @Adam_W.

I also suggest bringing your floor plan to your local store and speaking to the In-store kitchen specialist, who designs all our floorplans. They will be able to draw up a rough sketch of your bathroom configuration. Once you're satisfied with the layout, I suggest booking a site visit for a bathroom renovation quote.

The builder will then inspect the area to make sure that the proposed layout is possible. Once they finish with the inspection the builder will submit a quote to the store and the kitchen specialist will combine the quote with the items you've chosen for the renovation.

In regards to permit processing, please speak to the builder and they will be able to tell you what relevant permits are needed.

Re: How to renovate the bathroom?

Hello @Jnguyen

I've managed to do a quick render of your bathrooms in the configuration you've described. If you wish to change the set-up, please let me know. I've closed off the door to your toilet and added it to your main bathroom outside. Your request for a shower and vanity for the master bedroom is compact but functional.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Re: How to renovate the bathroom?

thanks a lot, EricL. It definitively gives me some great ideas for my renovation

Putting the existing toilet together with the new shower for the main bathroom outside looks really great, I didn't think about it before.

However, I would prefer a toilet in the master room if possible.  a small sink should be good enough for use. Can you try it?

Re: How to renovate the bathroom?

Hello @Jnguyen

Here is the revamped ensuite in the master bedroom as you requested. Please note that the appliances in that room must be double checked for measurements to make sure that the shower door will open properly.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Re: How to renovate the bathroom?

Hi EricL, much appreciated for your help.

Just one more question, what software did you use to render the above layout? and can it be accessed by the public?

It's great if I could have a play with it.

Re: How to renovate the bathroom?

Hello @Jnguyen

The software I use is called Sketchup and it is accessible online. You should be able to find it on google, older versions of it can also be downloaded on your computer.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.
