Dear All,
Trying to replace the old taps in the bathroom sink. After watching a Youtube video, I thought I have got all ducks in a row however just wanted to get some advice on how to remove the bottom part of the tap (circled in blue) which is attached with the metal ring. I could remove the top bit easily however before breaking anything needed some advice.
Hi @Iwish,
On that tap style, the cover plate is typically not attached to anything and is retained by a spring under the handle. It could need to be screwed anti-clockwise off the metal base, but I've never seen a tap like that. I suspect it is just glued in place with muck and might take some wiggling to prise off.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Hi Mitchell,
Thanks for your prompt response. After a bit of effort, the cover plate came off easily. So it worked and now I have faced a new challenge of having an old style spindle which no longer exists as I have been told by Bunnings. But anyhow, the solution is getting closer as the Bunnings rep has requested me to bring the old spindle and he'll assist with the new one. So far so good.
Many thanks
Vishal
