Dear All,
Trying to replace the old taps in the bathroom sink. After watching a Youtube video, I thought I have got all ducks in a row however just wanted to get some advice on how to remove the bottom part of the tap (circled in blue)

On that tap style, the cover plate is typically not attached to anything and is retained by a spring under the handle. It could need to be screwed anti-clockwise off the metal base, but I've never seen a tap like that. I suspect it is just glued in place with muck and might take some wiggling to prise off.
