How to remove a bathroom door and seal the wall?
Hi there,
Our bathroom currently has 2 doors, one from the hallway and one from the master bedroom. We are wanting to remove and seal the doorway between our bedroom and the bathroom. It is a 1 bathroom 3 bedroom house so we would rather there only be one door into the shared bathroom for privacy and more wall space so that we can install a larger vanity in the bathroom too. Feeling lost about which trades to engage to get this project started and ensure that the new wall is safe and appropriate for the bathroom.
Appreciate any insights

Re: Removing a bathroom door and sealing the wall
Hello @ashmarie
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bathroom door.
I suggest engaging either a builder or handy person who has experience in closing off doors. The general steps would be to remove the door, dismantle the door frame and a stud frame built in the space that was left behind. Insulation or batts can be fitted in before the area is sealed off with plasterboard. The final steps would be to fill the plasterboard joins with plaster and then the area will be prepared for painting.
I don't think you'll be needing any other trades such as a plumber or electrician when converting the door into a wall. However, if you plan on putting in a new vanity then a plumber would be necessary as they will need to do pipework for the new vanity. If you are needing a new power point near the vanity, then an electrician would be needed as well.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
