How to install metal furring channels.

Hi, I have a couple of brick walls that I will be sheeting with villaboard and tiling for a bathroom reno. One of the walls is the shower wall so it's extra important to get this right. The walls aren't very even so I've been looking for the best way to go about it. It seems that using metal furring channels is the easiest and most reliable to prevent issues in the future. I understand the basic concept but can't seem to find any good instructions for the installation, especially when using the clips to level things out. If there is any link or video to good instructions I would be very appreciative. The other issue I have is once the furring strips are installed, how do I install the villaboard? It seems James Hardie only recommends nails when tiling but would screws be more appropriate for the metal? Thanks in advance.
