We have been experiencing constant seepage of water through the seams of the wall downstairs. The water appears to have a yellowish tint and drips at a slow rate, roughly a drop every two seconds. The area above the affected wall is where the bathroom basin is located. We previously thought that the issue might stem from waterproofing failure, potentially allowing water to seep under the tiles and accumulate within the walls before leaking out.
However, based on our observations, we now suspect that the problem may be related to the water supply pipes leading to the basin or other pipes within the wall. This suspicion was further heightened this morning when we discovered water leakage upstairs in close proximity to the basin. Please see the photos attached.
What could be the possible causes? How to best inspect the cause? Thanks!
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Ton. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about leak detection.
Due to the intricacy of plausible leak sources, it would be best to seek the assistance of a leak detection specialist. They have the tools and know-how to locate the source precisely, reducing needless damage and saving time.
If you suspect leaking plumbing or waterproofing, a specialist can perform a comprehensive inspection using tools like moisture meters, infrared imaging, and pressure testing. This guarantees a more accurate diagnosis, enabling focused repairs and averting additional harm. It is important that the issue be resolved quickly to prevent mould growth and structural damage.
At this point, since you've discovered a leak at the basin, you could have a plumber come in and fix it. However, if the leak point is not obvious, it might still require a specialist in that area.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks very much for the advice. Do you know how much a specialist detection like this normally costs? I contacted a couple of specialists, but they must attend to give a quote.
Hi @Ton,
Unfortunately, we can't offer advice on pricing for plumbing jobs like this.
Having a tradesperson attend to provide a quote is the standard practice in this situation.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
