Hi there,
I’ve got a problem with my outdoor tap. It makes loud noise whenever I switch it on and use the garden hose. Does this have to do with water pressure or the water tap itself? If it’s the tap, can I fix the problem by replacing the tap?
ive attached a video for you guys to view. Please advise me with ways to fix this problem 🙏🙏🙏

Hi @mike1360
As I go older I tend to simply replace outside taps - to each their own. Looks/sounds like the washer hammering and an 'O' ring failure on the spindle stem. Or you replace these items and see what happens. There are anti-hammer washers available.
Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
Hi @mike1360
It's great that you've received excellent advice from @Noyade. I totally agree with the recommendations, you either try to repair the tap or replace it with a new one. The valves with the anti-hammer feature are called HydroSeal Anti-Hammer O-Ring Tap Valves. It's a great little valve and prevents sudden shut-offs from occurring in your garden tap.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Thank you🙏 Eric. I replaced the tap with a brand new one:)
Hi @mike1360
I'm glad to hear that you got your garden tap issues sorted out. If the outdoor tap has been there for more than 10+ years sometimes it's not worth repairing.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

One use for surplus taps...
I replaced an old outdoor tap that was hard to turn on and off. No hammering with the old tap. I've replaced it with a new one and the new one hammers like a 1st year apprentice chippy. Tap is secure with no movement. Is the new tap the fault? Other causes to consider?
Hello @Serge44
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your garden tap.
There could be a number of reasons or a combination of factors that's causing the tap to produce hammering. Have you tried to run the tap without the hose? Have you tried changing the function on your garden hose gun, sometimes some settings can cause a pressure wave to bounce back to the tap.
If the hammering persists, I suggest either changing the tap or perhaps changing the washer to a HydroSeal Anti-Hammer O-Ring Tap Valve.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
