Re: frame pulled off shower glass

Hi @Frecks,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

I'll start by saying any work done around glass should be done with extreme care as there is potential for it to shatter causing lacerations to anyone in the general area of the glass. Please exhibit caution when working around glass and wear long protective clothing, enclosed shoes, eye protection and gloves.

If installed correctly, the glass should sit in a pocket at the bottom of the frame as well as at the top where it has pulled away. Having the glass pulled away from the frame like this makes me think that either the frame has been knocked upwards, or more likely the cause of the issue is at the base of the frame.

Is it possible to get some photos of where the glass sits? I suspect it has shifted which could cause this problem.

I'm happy to look at things further if you can provide some photos of the base, but unfortunately, due to the risks involved with glass, you may need the assistance of a glazier.

Re: frame pulled off shower glass

Hi @Frecks,

Does it look like this plastic piece I have circled in red has snapped?

I'm struggling to see a reason that the glass has moved but I suspect this could have something to do with it.

If it has snapped you may need to look for something identifying the manufacturer of the shower screen as this part may need to be replaced. The manufacturer may also be able to replace the rubber seal that has come off the glass.

Let me know what you find.

Re: frame pulled off shower glass

@JacobZ

Thats the door magnet not a broken piece unfortunatly. I can push the frame down again over the glass in that corner but it pops right back up as soon as I let it go. Could I stuff it with sealy, and tape it down till it dries? Nothing seems to be broken in that corner but I can't see what was holding glass and frame together outside of that strip of plastic that no longer works along the edge in my earlier photos

Re: frame pulled off shower glass

Hi @Frecks,

Thank you for clarifying. It seems like the top frame has just been bumped out of place. I do find it a bit odd that the top of the frame wasn't attached to the glass with silicone in the first place, but regardless adding new silicone to hold the glass in place seems like the best solution.

Use a neutral cure clear silicone such as this Selleys Clear Wet Area Waterproof Silicone Sealant to fill up the frame then push it down so it sits on the glass. You should then apply tape over the top of the frame and down the sides of the glass panel to hold it in place while the silicone sets. Remember to wear your protective clothing while doing this and move slowly trying not to bump the corners of the glass as there is potential for the glass to shatter.

Put enough silicone in the frame so that it squeezes out when pushed down onto the glass. Keep a bucket of water nearby and use these Silicone Scrapers to tidy up the excess silicone.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: frame pulled off shower glass

Hello @Frecks

Just a friendly reminder that working with glass is very dangerous, an accidental hit or improper application of force can cause the glass to shatter and cause injury. In this particular situation, I propose calling the professionals in as the shower frame coming off the shower panels is not very safe.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
