I am attaching an image of my sink for reference. Could you please advise on the best methods for cleaning it? Additionally, could you explain what might have caused its formation?
Hi @davidc12,
That darkened stain around the sink waste is a common issue. Water and residue can sit in the slight recess below the drain flange, creating an ideal spot for scum and stains to build up over time.
To tackle this, I recommend using a gentle scourer along with Gumption to scrub the area. Gumption’s mild abrasive action should lift the stain without scratching the sink surface. Apply a bit of the cleaner, scrub gently, and rinse thoroughly. Regular cleaning in that spot will help prevent future build-up.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi, that didn't help. Can you suggest something better?
Hi @davidc12,
I'm sorry to hear this wasn't successful.
You can try using CLR Ready To Use Calcium Lime Rust Remover.
Spray it on, allow it to sit for 1-2 minutes to soak in then agitate with a scourer or pipe cleaner before washing away with clean water..
If you don't have success with this, you may need to remove the waste, so you have clearer access to the area that is dirty.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
