Hello,
I have a magnetic strip on my shower door. On the shower frame itself there’s a metal strip the door sticks to but it’s peeling away on what looks like double sided tape. How can I replace the metal strip or is there another alternative like sort of frame bumper that could be used instead once I remove the strip?
Appreciate any ideas!
Hi @EmiJ,
I’m not familiar with this specific type of magnetic strip fixing mechanism. If the metal strip is attached to the shower frame using double-sided tape, you should be able to carefully remove the metal strip and the old tape, then clean both surfaces before applying the new exterior-grade mounting tape. This type of tape is designed for high-moisture environments and should provide a strong bond.
However, I’d advise caution when working around glass panels, as they are fragile and can shatter easily. To ensure your safety while working on this project, it’s important to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, a long-sleeved shirt, trousers, and enclosed footwear to protect yourself from potential accidents.
If you’re not confident doing this work yourself, or if you're unsure about removing and reattaching the metal strip safely, it may be worth enlisting the help of a professional to avoid any mishaps.
If you can provide more details a photos of how this mechanism functions perhaps out helpful member will have some other suggestions.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
