Re: cleaning and protecting 1966 bathtub

Hello @toby8

Thanks for sharing your question about protecting your bathtub. If you are only after cleaning and protection, I suggest using Autosol 75ml Acrylic Polish. Please make sure to test a small corner first before committing the entire bath. It is possible to use clear silicone to patch the small cracks and fissures on the surface of the bath, but this is a temporary measure and will not last very long. Eventually you'll need to remove the old silicone and apply a new patch.

However, should you reconsider regarding painting your bath, you can use either Rust-Oleum 946ml White Gloss Tub And Tile Refinishing Kit or White Knight 500ml White Tub And Basin Paint. This is on the condition that you have a steel bath. But if it's acrylic it will not work on the bath.

My only other suggestion is to engage the services of a bath restoration specialist. They will have the knowledge and tools to restore and protect your bath.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
