Hi to All,
When I open up the cover, I see a kind of a gel (in the red circle in the photo) to prevent water from entering the wall. Can anyone suggest where to buy it? I just don't know what we call it.
Also, will a brass washer be better than plastic one in this case?
Thank you so much for your help!
Danny
Hi @DannyN,
That would likely be clear wet area silicone, which you can apply with a caulking gun. Ensure you fill those gaps where you can see into the wall cavity.
Regarding the washers, either a plastic or brass one would be perfectly fine to use. I wouldn't say the brass ones are any better, as the plastic will last just as long.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Thanks a lot for the quick reply, @MitchellMc — really appreciate it!
I picked up the silicone and a caulking gun from Bunnings. I’ve also heard that I might need to reseat. Is it necessary to reseat every time I replace the washer? Also, do you have any tool recommendations for reseating?
Hi @DannyN,
You should only re-seat a tap if it still leaks after replacing the washers. There's no need to unless it is damaged, and certainly not every time you change a washer.
Any re-seating tool will do the job, if needed.
