DIY small bathroom renovation ideas wanted

I have decided to renovate my bathroom, i have recently purchased an apartment in perth. I have afew questions and would love some opinions, firstly being the shower "step", its an old apartment so the shower has a step that separates it from the bathroom, i would love to get rid of it and have it flat so then i can increase the size of the shower, also, some opinons on what i can do, maybe some tiling ideas, its my first time doing this so happy for some ideas and feedback, im an electrician so im pretty hands on. Just some tips on older style bathrooms, its brick walls.

Re: DIY small bathroom renovation

Hello @jye

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your bathroom renovation.

I suggest having a quick look at this guide - How to plan a bathroom renovation by @Adam_W. You'll find excellent suggestions on what to take into consideration when planning your renovation. All the items you've mentioned in your wish list definitely possible, such as a bigger shower, better tiles and a floating vanity. Just keep in mind that as soon as you take the tiles off, all of it will need to removed as new water proofing will need to be applied to the entire wet area. Please note that waterproofing will need to be done by a trained and registered professional as it will be inspected and signed off.

There are so many possibilities on what appliances you can use, I suggest having a look at the shower screens available. If you have the time, I suggest visiting one of the larger stores with a complete shower display set. In this manner you'll have a much better idea of how big the shower can get. You'll also be able to see the vanities that are available.

Re: DIY small bathroom renovation

Hi Eric

Thanks for replying to me, as far as i understand, in WA you are allowed to waterproof yourself and then someone can verify it. I am originally from NSW and i know its required there to have it done by someone qualified.

But thanks for all the help, ill look into all of it, i really appreciate it.
