Hi all -I just had a plumber replace all my 30 year old ceramic disc taps with brand new POSH BRISTOL taps, which have washer spindles. I don’t like how they feel and they sometimes drip if not turned off hard enough. Is it possible to replace just the tap washer type spindle in them with a 1/4 turn ceramic disc spindles (and fit the tap parts on them) Will any of the ceramic disc spindles sold at Bunnings fit ?
Hello @JW0107
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your tap spindles.
On the condition that they are standard size, the Bunnings Shaw & Mason 1/4 Turn Clockwise Chrome Plate Ceramic Disc Wall Spindle should work nicely with your spindle base. Please keep in mind to make sure that they are not deep-seated spindles.
Deep seated spindles are like ordinary spindles but have a much longer body that travels inside the spindle base. If that is the configuration of your spindles the ceramic sets at the store will not work for you. It's best to double check before you make any changes to your wall spindles.
Just a friendly reminder to make sure to purchase the correct type of spindle and that is wall for wall spindle and basin for basin spindles.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to replace a tap washer (parts of the guide are applicable to your project)

Thanks for that - also, can I replace anticlockwise spindles with clockwise spindles?
Hi @JW0107,
I'm not sure whether I entirely understand your question. Your current spindles are anti-clockwise to turn on and clockwise to turn off. The one's @EricL suggests should function the same way. If you were to purchase a complete set of ceramic wall taps, their spindles will often operate in opposing directions for the hot and cold tap. One side will turn clockwise for on and the other side will turn anti-clockwise for on.
