We're renting a two bedroom flat. We want a dishwasher, and the only place that has room for one is laundry/bathroom.
Would it be safe/reasonable to simply rest a dishwasher like this one Devanti Benchtop Dishwasher on top of our front loading washing machine?
If not, what would be the best solution for a suitable bench that the washing machine sits under, and would support the dishwasher?
I've found something like this Dryer Stand but it would be great to find a solution that doesn't cost half again the price of the dishwasher itself.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @mwneeson. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about positioning a benchtop dishwasher.
Given the relatively light weight of the dishwasher, it might be an option to position it on top of your washing machine. It would likely be best to first cut a timber board to the size of the top of the washing machine. This will ensure that the weight of the dishwasher is evenly distributed across the top instead of just over its footprint. However, ultimately, it would be best to contact the washing machine manufacturer to determine if placing objects on top of it is acceptable.
There're likely a variety of second-hand tables you could use for this purpose, or, based on the sizing of the dryer stand, you could create your own version from timber.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
