ventilation

We live in the downstairs of a highset house, we have external brick walls, need vents or exhaust in most rooms to take out the heat

Also looking for exhaust vents for walls of our corrugated shed.

Re: ventilation

Hi @hwagner

Happy New  year.

I would highly  recommend you just air con your place as a fan will work to a degree but winter time it could be a heat loss zone even  with self closing  vents. It is still a big hole in the wall.

Air cons use much less power these  days the ones  with inverter technology.

Turn the air con on before it get hot is more economical as the walls and ceiling dosnt heat up.

Outlay less than 2K install $800?

RE your  shed best to grow a vine over the top if possible it wont  heat  up if  covered.

The  radient heat on the metal will have it roasting what  ever you do I would use a large  industrial  fan to move the air internally it will cool people the best.

But a  wall Exaust  Fan self closing.   this may suit

I hope this  helps you

Re: ventilation

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @hwagner. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about ventilation.

You could consider installing passive vents in the external brick walls. These vents facilitate natural air circulation and help reduce heat build-up without the need for power. However, for rooms that trap significant heat, such as living spaces or bedrooms, wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted exhaust fans would be more effective. These powered fans actively remove hot air, especially when paired with intake vents to draw in cooler air from outside. Additionally, ensuring there is sufficient cross-ventilation by strategically positioning vents or openings on opposite walls can greatly improve airflow and comfort in the space.

For the shed vent, you might consider a roof vent.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
