rendering lime stone walls

IMG_3465.jpeg

hello! Seeking advise for our limestone walls. Recently just purchased the house and  I really hate the look on the limestone. We want to complete redo this area including the floors.

This in an indoor area connected to the house. I would like to have this covered but not sure which would be the best option? Render or to put up timer screens. Any advise would be appreciated 😊

Re: rendering lime stone walls

Hi @siobhan1,

Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Great to see @Jewelleryrescue has already jumped in with some advice.

Render is a good option as it can be applied directly to the limestone bricks to achieve a smooth or textured finish and then painted to your liking. Check out How To Render for some insight into the process.

You could also just paint the limestone bricks with a suitable system. I have spoken to Dulux who have recommended using a coat of Porter's Paints Mineral Silicate Primer followed by two coats of Mineral Silicate Paints to achieve a beautiful finish. These are specialty paints, so you will have to speak to Special Orders for their assistance with pricing and ordering.

Covering the wall with timber screens is also a good option however the specific method of installation will vary from product to product and will likely require you to batten out the wall, so the timber screens are not in direct contact with the limestone.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
