I’m installing the front stairs and found the the qld building specs for stringers to be quite confusing
from center of bolt to the center of the other bolt is 3.240 when using the qld calculator for this I get a different answer every time
I have two more stringers to install and need to know the spacing or will I need a third stringer
thanks for your input
Hi @jamaka,
The maximum treat width at 50mm thickness for our Galintel stringers is 1000mm. So, for a 3000mm length, you'd require four stringers. Your 3240mm is slightly over the recommended width, and to adhere to it strictly, you'd need five stringers in total. With five stringers, you'll end up with a very solid set of stairs.
The first stringer will be positioned at 0mm on the left edge, and the last stringer will be placed at 3240mm on the right edge. To determine the spacing, divide the total width of 3240mm by the four gaps, which results in a spacing of 810mm. This means the remaining three stringers should be placed at 810mm, 1620mm, and 2430mm. This ensures that all five stringers are evenly positioned across the width, providing balanced support for the stairs.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks that’s what I thought I would have to do now I’ll have to have a chat with my trade lady at my local Bunnings to see if I can get a single four step😁
