Hi, I would like to have an advice regarding issue we are facing. We have recently bought this house 3 years old, load bearing wall separating lounge and room there is passage. Both sides of wall there are multiple bulging showing up. Would you please advise what could cause this and any recommendations for solutions would be much appreciated.

Thank You

Re: bulging near load bearing wall both sides

Hello @patni209

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bulging walls.

It is a bit of a worry that your plasterboard panels are buckling. It's possible that it has been improperly installed, and as the timber shifts during temperature changes it has caused the panels to run into each other causing it to buckle. However, it seems that some of the damages are a bit more severe than the others. I propose engaging the services of a local builder and having them investigate the roof truss and timber framing along with the foundation of the house. There is the possibility that the foundation of the house has shifted causing the walls to react in this way.

Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their recommendations.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: bulging near load bearing wall both sides

Hi @patni209

at first I thought it might have been caused by water ingress. But I can't see by the plasterboard fixing nails that it appears the wall is possibly being crushed where the rafters/truss's are. As @EricL mentioned I would be getting in contact quite urgently either a Qualified building inspector or a "registered" builder to have a look. The inspector will probably be your best bet.

A 3yr old house would also be covered under builders insurance.

Good Evening @patni209

I was thinking along the same lines as @Nailbag  with some form of water damage.  It kind of looks like there has been water in the ceiling space and you can see the lines of the trusses in the second last photo. Whichever way I agree with both @EricL and @Nailbag that it would be wise to get it checked out by a registed builder. At least that way you can rule out a leaky roof.
