Hi there, our front metal security door is always banging really loudly when it shuts unless someone closes it by hand gently. How do I kill the banging instead of my husband? 😎
Will putting a new hydraulic or pneumatic closer solve it or is it something else like the metal frame/lock area? We have a black security door.
Thanks 🙏🏻

Hi @Alfandari,
I do believe that a pneumatic door closer will prevent the door from being slammed shut. It allows for smooth opening and closing. If you attempt to slam or close the door too quickly, the pressure in the cylinder provides resistance.

You can adjust the tension of the gas strut by screwing / unscrewing. That will adjust the speed at which it shuts
Looks like I need to get a new one. Old one I tried tightening, it stops short but then closes by itself a few minutes later and still slams, just slower.
Please let us know if you need more assistance with replacing your pneumatic door closer @Alfandari. We're here to help.
