So I'm about to take on a little cottage in the middle of nowhere to be near family, and I'm beside myself with excitement about all the stuff we can do to freshen her up. I've never done any reno stuff before, but a lick of paint is always a great place to start. Bunnings, here I come!
P.S. I'm still trying to work out how to add an image to this post!
The kids seem to be really enjoying the tree change. They've trimmed up a little with all of the extra yard they have to explore now, which is great.
Hello @MitchellMc @Walter @EricL @Jewelleryrescue I need some dishwasher plumbing advice please...
Until the bathroom is installed, I would like to temporarily put a dishwasher in there. I have access to a power point, and a hole right through the wall which goes out to my ozito constant pressure pump. What plumbing connections do I need to buy to connect the dishwasher to the pump, and preferably with an extra outlet for the garden hose to stay connected to.
The dishwasher will be up against the wall, and on the external side the pump is `2m from the wall.
Thank you,
Jason
Hi @BoeingFan
Hi All can dishwasher outlet go to a septic tank and not kill the bacteria?
In regards to dish washing just put the plates close to the floor so the kids can reach better (furphy)
Just while looking at you pictures your constant pressure pump (not now into the future) could use a 10Lto 20L pressure tank . which means it wont start pumping so often and prematurely fail. Talk later date as they can be bought reconditioned cheaper than new. As water supply is important look to buy a spare constant pressure pump. I dont know how ozito pump will cope? I am normally supporter of ozito.
Depending on your invisable dishwasher specification if has a standard power plug and a water inlet hose Do not forget its water outlet needs into drain.
This is a bit of a grey area whether its ok to run it as a tempary setup theoretically possible but probably not worth your while to try and do.
In a setup house hold the plumbing is allready done all you have to do connect inlet hose and outlet hose at pre plumbed positions. Dish washer dies just swap them over.
Nice kid cuddling dad photo. Your there whole world
Great points @Jewelleryrescue I'll add some more details which hopefully help the cause.
The dishwasher would be the stainless steel Bellini Dishwasher from Bunnings.
There is an old female tap connection running directly from the water tank, I could connect a tap with a suitable threaded male end if that's what the dishwasher could connect to. The water exiting the dishwasher would run straight into the old cast iron bathtub drain, so no worries there. Currently the ozito pressure pump does not connect to the house water, though I'd like to do that, especially if I can rig up a dishwasher. Pics below.
@JewelleryrescueThank you for the info., I've not heard of a pressure tank before, but it sounds useful.
The kids, yes, them and my other half, nothing I love more on the planet 😍
Hello @BoeingFan
In order to link your dishwasher to your water pump, I suggest running a separate hose to the one that you have now. If you have a spare hose with connectors on it, I suggest attaching a Kinetic 12mm Brass Nut And Tail Kit in combination with a Kinetic 11-25mm 304 Stainless Steel Hose Clamp to one end of the hose. This will prevent the connection from pulling out when under pressure.
Once you've attached the nut and tail kit, connect your dishwasher hose to the fitting using a Brasshards 20mm Brass Threaded Hexagon Nipple. Please make sure to put some FIX-A-TAP 12mm x 8m Thread Seal Tape on both sides of the brass nipple. Although it is possible to use the tap attached to the water tank it will not provide enough pressure to the dishwasher and it will not give a satisfactory wash. All that's left to do is to plug the other end of the hose into the pump.
Please make sure to do a test run to make sure everything works.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
Eric
Thanks so much @EricL , I've saved those items you mentioned to my list. May I ask, what do you mean by, "I suggest running a separate hose to the one that you have now. If you have a spare hose with connectors on it..."
The only hose I have now is a garden hose, I don't have any others. I hope the dishwasher comes with one to connect to the water outlet.
Thanks,
Jason
Hello @BoeingFan
You could in theory use your existing garden hose, I suggest looking at the Nylex 12mm Brass Sprinkler Adaptor. It can be attached to the washing machine inlet hose and your garden hose connected straight into it. However, with this type of connection, the odds of the joins letting go of one another increase. This is why I suggest a separate hose for the dishwasher as it's assembled differently.
Eric
Its good @EricL plumbing knowledge is coming to the rescue I trust him to have it all together,
Re his parts list for you I like assembling these items in the shop to make sure it all fits before i leave the store its my plumbing style I call it creative plumbing on the run so all the connectors fit from tap to appliance should work so I dont have to go back to the store for a puny part.
It would be a right royal pain having to go through bunning cataloug on line finding this connection list.
You're right @Jewelleryrescue , especially when up here in the country when you're 45 kilometres from the nearest Bunnings! I've added all the parts @EricL mentioned to my list so I'll grab it all today and see how we go.
