What paint to use on interior doors and frames?

Hi, I am painting my house. I have been told that i should use a water based white enamel to paint the chipped metal door frames. Can I use the same paint to paint the interior doors?

Re: Doors and frames

Hi @David4907,

Water-based enamel paints like Dulux Aquanamel are perfectly fine for painting doors and architraves; it's what I use myself.

Do these doors already have a gloss coat of paint on them? If so you'll need to give them a light sand with 180-grit sandpaper to dull the gloss finish before painting. Have you decided on whether you'll be using a brush or a roller?

Which is the easiest Brush or roller?

Re: Doors and frames

Hi @David4907

Using a roller on all the flat surfaces will be most proficient, but you might not be able to get right into the corners. I would normally take a brush and paint all the internal corners first, then go back over the frame with a roller. Or, if I'm feeling lazy, I'll just squish the roller into the corners to paint them.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
