Need recommendation for Drill-Driver or Impact Driver

I have approximately 300 Zenith 10G x 50mm Gold Passivated Square Drive Chipboard Screws to be used to screw through the particleboard floor and joists. I will pre-drill and countersink prior.

I have a very old corded Bosch (hammer) drill but being corded it requires an extension cable. Nevertheless, it can be used for the pre-drilling and countersinking. I had zero success when used with the screws but was most likely my lack of experience and used a too high a speed setting.

But if I was to buy a new drill/driver or impact driver or both, could someone suggest a suitable quality brand and model?

I have seen this online at my local Bunnings store:

Ryobi 18V ONE+ Drill Driver 7 Impact Driver Kit

I/N: 0557560

Re: Need recommendation for Drill-Driver or Impact Driver

Hi @alkifaf,

Thank you for your post requesting recommendations for a drill and impact driver.

A drill and driver are oftentimes the first power tools people will buy so there are some great options out there that come with batteries and chargers that are compatible with a variety of different power tools.

In the D.I.Y. space, Ryobi and Ozito offer great tools at great prices. They are capable of most jobs you'll run into around the home.

There are higher-end trade-facing brands such as Makita, AEG, Dewalt, and Bosch which offer similar kits at a higher price point. They tend to have more "bells and whistles" and are better options if you plan on using them every day like a tradie does. If you plan on purchasing other tools in the future, it is worth checking them out now as once you've got some batteries, it makes sense to stick with the one brand.

For your project, I'd suggest Ryobi is a fantastic option. Ryobi are a great brand whose One+ battery platform is compatible with over 200 different power tool and power garden products. Check out 18V RYOBI NZ for some information on the platform and the tools that are available.

The Ryobi 18V ONE+ Drill Driver & Impact Driver Kit you've linked to is a great entry-level kit on the Ryobi One+ battery platform. It includes 2 x 4Ah batteries and a 1.5A charger. These tools will have no issues with the job you've described above.

For a slightly increased price, this Ryobi 18V ONE+ 2 Piece HP Brushless Compact Kit is a step up in tool quality that also comes with 2 x 4Ah batteries and an upgraded 2A fast charger. These tools are more powerful, they're brushless and will make light work of the job.

Check out this handy Cordless Drill Buying Guide for some further guidance.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
