Dear Community members,
The Coving corners are slowly dropping down in my car garage. I have attached two photographs that will provide a view of the problem statement.
I do not know if I can get this fixed as DIY and if so, any support / direction to get this fixed will be really appreciated.
Regards
Hi @rajavamsi,
Thank you for your question about repairing cracks in the coved cornice.
Unfortunately, due to the crack extending out from the cornice at the corner, the repair likely extends past the cornice and into the wall.
This cracking indicates movement in the wall, likely due to the forces put on it by the garage door. Repairing the cornice alone would be a band-aid fix concealing a larger issue.
I'd suggest you contact a carpenter to come and assess this for you. The repair process would likely involve several steps, including potentially removing and reattaching the garage door. As there are many possible elements, I would not suggest this is a D.I.Y. repair.
You might like to look for a carpenter in your area using a service such as HiPages or True Local.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
