Hello, I want to replace the kitchen floor and carpet with Hybrid flooring. Do I have to put some kind of lining under the planks or can I lay them directly onto whatever is on the floor? The house is not sitting on a slab.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Neeta. It's fabulous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about hybrid flooring.
If the existing timber floor is flat and free from lumps or bumps, the hybrid flooring can be laid over it. You will need to remove the carpet, though. Do you know what's under it?
Most hybrid flooring comes with a pre-adhered foam underlay which helps disguise minor imperfections of the existing flooring. However, any significant issues will show through, and if there are any, you'd be best to lay Masonite Underlay first.
Here's a helpful step-by-step guide: How to lay vinyl plank flooring.
I look forward to following along with your project. Please let me know if you have further questions.
