I have a Colorbond Steel Roof with a shallow Box Gutter 48mm depth by 403 mm width.
There are two small rusty holes in the corners caused by Cockatoos picking at the Gutter
What is the best method of repairing the holes without cutting out the whole section and replacing with New Section of Colorbond Formed up at the Corners by a Roofing Contractor
Thinking of SikaFlex -11FC to plug the holes cleaning all rust first. Then overcoating the area with Ormonoid Bitcote No 3 Bitumous Waterproofing Membrane.
Will this work ?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Richard007. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing guttering.
That certainly sounds like an option. Any alternative to the Ormonoid product would be Crommelin 1L Exterior Grade Brushable Waterproofer. The reason for suggesting this is an alternative is that you can use it in combination with their reinforcing fabric over your repaired hole. This provides more assurance that water cannot penetrate the repair. You also might like to paint the product over the whole gutter interior to provide a solid and continuous layer of waterproofing to the area.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
