How to render around internal windows?

Good afternoon,

We have recently had new aluminium windows installed and needing to render around internally.

There are no architraves.

How do you suggest we move forward with the rendering?.

Can we render over the aluminium bit that is attached to the brick wall?.

Thickness of rendering.

Can we use ready made render?

If so, which do you recommend?

Also, should the blue board allign with existing brick wall?.

Thank you very much in advance.

Anna

Re: How to render around internal windows?

Good afternoon @anna123

With the plantation shutters I would talk to the installer and ask what is needed. They may know already if they have been out to talk to you for a quote.

I would go with the trim @Nailbag has suggested. This is non structual tho and will not hold shutters in place. The Shutters will need to be fixed through to the brickwork/concrete on the sides.

The plastic thing is to act like a washer to hold the window in place. If you remove it and replace with a nicer screw and washer id say there is no problem but you need to have something there. (May be problematic removing and replacing)

As @MitchellMc has said and I agree that rendering over the aluminium of the frame is not a good idea due to bonding of the render to the aluminium.
