How do I remove flat rivets? Here’s a picture of what I mean.
Hello @Bethling
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about removing blind rivets.
I propose either grinding the back of the rivet with a grinding tool or cutting it with a multitool from the side.
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their suggestions.
Please remember to wear personal protections such as gloves, goggles and a mask when working on your project.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
Hi @Bethling you can use a HSS drill bit the size of the inner sleeve as per the image attached to drill the rivet out.
Regards, Nailbag
Good Morning @Bethling
The rivets? Pins maybe? Look domed. I like @EricL suggestion of using a grinding tool to grind the dome off. (I would do the underside as once cut the whole thing should pop out)
or
Flatten the dome using a hammer or a Craftright 8 Piece Long Series Punch Set or even a Craftright 3 Piece Nail Set Punch to give an indentation into the rivet for the drill to grab and then use a drill to drill out the top part. (from the underside)
