How to paint metal interior door frames?

I am new to Western Australia and in my house all the door frames are metal. Should I paint with oil based paint or water base paint.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about painting your metal door frames. 

I suggest using the White Knight Rust Guard system (water-based) for your metal frames. It is designed to go on steel and can be tinted in a variety of colours.
