Gday, wanting some advice on how to spray paint this gold plated fireplace door, the glass has been removed and the door taken off. Have been looking at high heat spray paint, after some preparation tips.
Hi @beckleeder,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
To prepare your gold-plated fireplace door, you'll want to buff the surface of the metal with a fine grit sandpaper to create a key for your primer to bond to. I'd suggest using this 400 Grit Sandpaper. Make sure you wear a mask so you don't inhale any airborne dust.
You can then apply your high-heat paint to the door, ensuring even coverage.
Ultimately, there is not much to it, but a good sand will get you the best result possible.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Jacob
Hi @beckleeder,
Just thought I'd add a link to White Knight 300g High Temp Spray Paint which will be suitable for painting the door frame. Preparation of the surface is to sand glossy surfaces lightly. There is no need to use a primer.
