Is there anything that can kill the Drain Flies? i have tried poring the boiling water. no help
Hello @Aarti1
Thanks for sharing your question about killing drain flies. I suggest cleaning your drain with your usual cleaning solution. Use a pipe brush to scrub around and inside the drain. If you are trying to use hot water, I suggest using a very large amount as a single kettle will not be enough to destroy the nest of the drain flies. Another option is the use of baking soda: Combine 1/2 cup salt with 1/2 cup baking soda and 1 cup of vinegar and pour down the drain. Leave overnight, and finish by pouring boiling water down the drain in the morning.
If you need to take the next step up, I suggest using Drain Clean 1L Liquid Enzyme Drain Cleaner or Peerless JAL 1L Bio Activ Drain Cleaner. These cleaning compounds will clean the walls of your drainpipes.
Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when using the chemical cleaners.
